For Children Birth – Grade 5

Even the youngest children should learn about Jesus and his love for us. Through our interactive, engaging programs, children learn while having fun. We create a safe and enjoyable environment for kids to grow in their faith and become strong, confident disciples of Jesus Christ.

At Northminster we seek through the Holy Spirit to help children come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, grow in their faith, and go out into the world equipped to honor God throughout their lives. Nurturing families is a primary goal at Northminster. We strive to provide a safe, child-friendly place where your family can learn, praise, and celebrate together in Christ.

Palm Sunday: March 25

PalmOne of our favorite Northminster traditions is Palm Sunday, when our children age 3 through 5th grade enter the Sanctuary waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!”

This year, children will sing Hosanna, Amen! They are rehearsing the song throughout the month of March in Bible BLAST and Worship & Wonder groups. We encourage you to rehearse the song at home, too! Contact Kathy Mallgren to obtain lyrics and an mp3 recording by Choraliers Director, Gloria Day.

March 25 Schedule: Children are encouraged to participate in all four services on Sunday, March 25.

  • 8:30am – Warm up in the Music Rehearsal Room of the Multipurpose Building to prepare to sing at the end of the Contemporary Worship service. They will return directly to the Music Rehearsal Room for a brief break to prepare for the next service. Children attending the Children’s Message will be escorted to the Music Rehearsal Room as Worship & Wonder will not meet on this date.
  • 9:15am – Regroup in the Music Rehearsal Room before returning to the Sanctuary to sing at the beginning of the 9:30am Traditional Worship service. Afterward we will gather in CE Rooms 8&9 to celebrate with a special pancake breakfast, Easter story and games!
  • 10:50am – At the end of the breakfast we will regroup in the Music Rehearsal Room to sing at the beginning of the Kaleidoscope Worship service and then across the courtyard at the Arise Worship service. Children will then be dismissed to their parents for the day. Worship & Wonder 11am and Choraliers rehearsal will not meet on this date.

Nursery Care – We know how precious children are to the heart of God. They are dear to us as well. Because of this, our main mission is to ensure that each child experiences the love of Jesus through the nurturing and attentive care they receive in our nursery. Children may be checked in 15 minutes prior to each service.

All Worship Sundays – On the first Sunday of each month, with a few exceptions, children and their families are encouraged to worship together in the Sanctuary. Kid-friendly worship materials are made available for children age 4-5th grade, including stuffed animal worship buddies. Regular Sunday morning activities for children are not offered on these days.

Children’s Ministry Happens Through Volunteers!

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities with our children here at Northminster. We are always in need of caring, helping hands to participate in our ministries. Those who volunteer in our programs find their service to God is as valuable and rewarding to themselves as it is to the children. If you would like more information or are available to assist in any area of Children’s Ministries, please contact Kathy Mallgren.
