What to Expect

Engaging worship. A challenging message from God’s word. Inspiring music. This is just a sample of what you can expect when you visit Northminster Presbyterian Church.

hallboys320x180Each week we gather in worship to focus our hearts on the God who gives us life and to grow closer to God through great teaching. We aim to connect people with Jesus, grow disciples for Jesus and serve in Jesus’ name. We invite you and your family to come as you are and join us with an open heart ready to receive God. We welcome you to our campus regardless of whether you are searching or have been walking with God for years.

Sundays at Northminster offer many different worship experiences. Whether it’s worship with traditional hymns, organ and choir, multilingual worship with our African community, or enjoying our Praise Band first thing in the morning, we’re sure there’s a service here for you.

We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that are meant to help you feel comfortable and aware of what to expect when joining us.

Please feel free to contact us at office@npctucson.org with additional questions.

Should I bring my Bible?
We encourage you to bring your Bible in whatever format is most comfortable for you. We project important sermon points and scriptures, and WiFi is available in the Sanctuary and throughout the campus.

What should I wear?
We want you to be at ease and encourage you to wear whatever is most comfortable for you.

What are Sunday worship services like?
Northminster offers four unique worship services each week, with the same great message preached by one of our four pastors. Each service is approximately 65-70 minutes in length. Check out past services through our on demand stream to help you decide which service is right for you!

Do you have student and children’s ministries?
We have active student and children’s ministries that reflect the unique culture of our church. Visit our student and children’s web pages for information on what we offer, or contact us with specific questions.

family320x180What do you provide for children?
Kid-friendly worship materials are made available for children age 4-5th grade each Sunday, including stuffed animal worship buddies for our youngest worshipers.

We believe families should have the opportunity to regularly worship together. For this reason, regular Sunday morning children’s and youth programs are not offered on the first Sunday of the month (what we call “All Worship Sundays“), to enable families to worship together at the service of their choice.

Does Northminster Church receive an offering?
Yes. An offering plate is passed to receive offerings. At our Kaleidoscope service, the offering is received through drop baskets located throughout the Sanctuary. If you desire to give, please know Northminster Church is devoted to being careful stewards of God’s resources. Members and regular attendees are encouraged to be faithful in tithing.

How often do you celebrate communion?
communion320x180Our church family receives communion together on the first Sunday of the month to remember Christ’s sacrificial death for our sins. At our 9:30am service, we invite all believers to take the sacraments with us, with the bread being passed first (a gluten-free option is available if needed) and then the cups. We ask that you hold the bread until everyone has been served, as we take this element together to signify our unity in Christ. You may take the cup when you’re ready, to signify your individual relationship with Jesus. At our other services, communion is offered by intinction. Church leaders stand at the front of the church, pews are released one at a time and the bread is dipped into the juice and immediately taken.

What if I have questions when I get there?
At every service, ushers are available to welcome and guide you, should you have any questions. You can also visit one of our Welcome Centers located in the Rowley Courtyard or just outside our Sanctuary doors for more information about NPC.

Where do I park?
Parking is available in our south parking lot (at the corner of Tucson Blvd. and Hedrick St.), our northeast parking lot at the corner of Tucson Blvd. and Ft. Lowell Rd., and in our northwest parking lot off of Ft. Lowell Rd. Handicap parking spaces are located in all parking lots.
