Vacation Bible School FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Updated May 27, 2021

What COVID safety protocol will you have in place?

Northminster is blessed to have Plasma Air Ionizing filtration systems in all our rooms. These systems will be operated during Vacation Bible School. We are also arranging schedules for outdoor activities wherever possible including games and snack service.

Masks are not required at Northminster for adults or children who are fully vaccinated but recommended for adults who are not vaccinated. Those who would prefer to wear a mask are welcome to do so.

At Rocky Railway, leaders and children will form small groups called Crews for the event, so they travel with the same companions each day, limited mixing. Rocky Railway activities were chosen to encourage physical distancing and minimize personal contact.

We will continue to provide frequent opportunities for hand-cleaning or sanitizing in the schedule and will maintain our practice to clean and disinfect shared space areas between uses.

Will we still be able to make friend requests?

Yes! Even though Crews will be smaller this year, we encourage friends to invite friends to attend with them and will accommodate the requests wherever possible. We are not able to pair friends or siblings across the elementary and preschool groups as activities are designed for age-appropriateness.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

Teen volunteers bring spirit to VBS! Any youth volunteers need to have completed 5th grade before the start of VBS. Adult volunteers (18yrs and older) will need to complete a background check provided by Northminster Church.

Will there be an online option available?

Unfortunately, we are currently not offering an online VBS option this year.

Can I participate?

Yes! VBS can be an event for everyone in your family! Parents are invited to participate in a Parents Connect group of their own where they will engage in lively conversations about applying the Bible lessons of Rocky Railway to parenting and family life. Be sure to register yourself for the event so we will be ready to welcome you aboard.

Nursery and toddler rooms are offered for any younger siblings of Parent Connect attendees. 3-year old children of Parent Connect attendees who are toilet competent may participate with the Preschool & Kindergarten group.

Is there a charge to attend VBS?

We are pleased to offer Rocky Railway VBS for FREE to all participants through a generous blessing from our Northminster Crafters.

How can I guarantee a spot for my child?

To keep the protocol described above, we are planning 60 spaces for elementary-aged children and 24 for PreK/Kindergarten children. The best way to secure a spot for your child is to register now as spaces will fill. We will offer a waiting list if a program fills up so we can accommodate as many families as possible.

How can I help with VBS?

Sign up to volunteer! We would love that! Check out the great opportunities at https://bit.ly/VBS21volunteer or use the registration webpage link. If you have questions or would like to talk more about volunteering, please email our Children’s Director, Kathy Mallgren.

You may also donate, lend or create supplies, food and monetary contributions for the event through our online wish list.

And, as always, we appreciate your prayers greatly as we plan, prepare, and carry out this special week with the kids, our community, and the church through the power of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Thank you for your support!
