Evensong Worship Service
November 2, 5:00pm, Sanctuary
Reserve this time for a refreshing early evening spiritual and musical feast for the spirit, prepared by our Sanctuary Choir.
Evensong services, developed in England and first held in 1549, are typically quiet, reflective services, with scripture, prayer and music, including congregational hymns.
The choir will sing the Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, composed by Franz Joseph Haydn and accompanied by organ and string trio.
A reception will follow in the Rowley Courtyard.
2014 Presbyterian Women's Global Exchange to the Caribbean
November 4-20, 2014
Every three years, a group of Presbyterian Women travels to another part of the world to learn about the lives of women in that part of the world and to share faith stories and ministries with each other. It is a global exchange because, the following year, a group of women from the same part of the world is invited to attend the Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women to tell their stories to their North American sisters.
Our own Bonnie Thompson is representing the Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Southwest in the 2014 Presbyterian Women's Global Exchange to the Caribbean.
The 2014 Global Exchange will take a group of U.S. Presbyterian women to the Caribbean November 4–20, 2014. The trip will include visits to Trinidad, Curaçao and Dominican Republic. While celebrating their partnership, U.S. and Caribbean women will explore issues of shared concern, including violence and reconciliation, witness and evangelism and leadership development.
For updates on Bonnie's travels, follow her blog at http://presbyteriantraveler.blogspot.com/.
